Nia felt the pressure of Sheilis' touch, but it didn't register. Not really. Unable to to put words to what she had felt, she merely let the men lead her to the small shack. Over and over she murmured, "He's alive... and hurting..." She felt Tann to her very soul. Something connected them in the other realm in a way that neither was ever further than a thought. Was that how it was here? Could she think about him and know how he was feeling? Or what he was doing? She could never speak to him mentally, she wasn't that strong. But she knew if he was in the castle or the gardens or the weapons ring. She knew when he was laughing, or giving lessons, or merely reading.

Was that how it was here? Could she reach out and find him?

With her eyes once more on Sheilis' back and the walk becoming more automatic than deliberate, Lie'Ania tried to reach her mind out to Tann. It would start as a whisper and grow in intensity and strength till she either physically cried out to him or he heard. Well, she hoped he would hear. She had never been as good as him when it came to that. She was a healer, not a telepath. So she walked on, ignoring their talks and not paying attention where she was going.

Tann... please...Tann?

Rael nods understanding. He'd let Sheilis help lead LieAnia into the farm house, he'd go on in ahead of them and make certain that it was empty and safe. Quickly, the former rube took to the dwelling. Testing out the door, he picked the lock and went in, his senses on high alert. The farm house definently appeared abandoned. It looked as if no one was here for at least a decade, probably a casualty of the Great Collapse. The dust was thick, and covered everything like a blanket. Cobwebs and the like hung like ill-placed decorations, and the air was stale. The furniture was still in place, typical of what could be found in any farmhouse really giving the idea that the occupants didn't move out, they just disappeared.

Rael darted about the farmhouse, checking every room. The back bedroom had a pair of skeletons on the master bed, hands clasped. 'Sad', he thought. Other than them though, and the odd rat, the house was indeed empty. Rael closed the door to the back room tight, and made his way to the sitting room. He went over and lit a fire in the fireplace, giving some warmth and light to the room before turning back to Sheilis, "The place is empty of anyone living. We should keep the backroom closed though."

He then walks over to LieAnia, "We can rest here princess, and continue our trek once the sun sets." Rael turned to Sheilis, "Though I think we should discuss the stone. Should we trust it, or rid ourselves of it? A chance to quickly go to where this stone has a memory of..." Rael think on it, "to a town near a swamp. That's what the old man said. I know there are a couple such towns, but I know of only one name...."

Rael walk over to the fireplace and stares into the fire, "Maya.... I've heard some dark rumors from there..."

Nia continued to blindly follow the boys as the headed for the farmhouse. Only Sheilis' hand on her shoulder made her pause in her steps while Rael investigated the place.

The gentle touch guided her inside and she collapsed in the first chair her feet collided with. Her bag hit the floor with a thunk and her hands clutched her head, elbows now resting on the table. Between the headache from trying to reach Tann and the tears, she was exhausted enough to want to sleep a whole week.

Ignoring the goings on around her, she closed her eyes and screamed with all her might into mental space trying to reach the other half of her soul.

"TTAANNNNN!"

As the single syllable tapered off, she heard words. Heard and felt him... "I'm in Maya!..."

The backlash was enough to rock her in her seat. Pain slammed into her head like a pole arm attack and her head and stomach threatened to rend themselves in two inside her. Her vision swam, despite her eyes being squeezed shut against the pain. She was about to let the darkness claim her when something in the room caught her attention.

Someone mentioned Maya. She didn't know who, or why. But suddenly she knew she had to get there. It took two tries to rise from her chair and she was only victorious because the offending piece of furniture toppled over out of her way.

"Maya... We have to .. He's there... Tann's there..." Her voice croaked with pain. Her breath coming in gasps as she fought to remain upright.

Sheilis would recognize the look in her face. He'd seen it before when finding her broken and shattered body the last time she escaped Zodo. Unable to walk, or talk, eat or do more than moan in pain, she'd still tried to walk. So determined to reach Tann that she gave no thought of her own condition. Other than knowing she was physically intact this time, she looked the same... Wracked with pain, about to pass out, determined to march out the door to find her beloved.

Sheilis kept his hand on Nia's shoulder while Rael scouted the house.  He nodded his head in response to staying out of the back room, suspecting what was left of the owners of the farm was behind the door.

Sheilis pulled the stone out and eyed the thing, frowning.  He placed it on the table near him and pulled out his notebook, thumbing through it for a few moments when Nia suddenly stood up and staggered forward."Maya... We have to .. He's there... Tann's there..." Her voice croaked with pain. Her breath coming in gasps as she fought to remain uprigh

His notebook hit the table next to the stone and he scooped Nia up bridal style holding her close. He knew the look in her eyes well, and also remembered that his lord and lady would know where the other was, if it was possible.

He looked at Rael, "we now know Lord Tann is alive, and that our next destination is Maya."  He looked at his notebook, "I am not sure how much I have about Maya, though I have traveled far and wide.  I think rest for a few hours is a must, but to wait for nightfall is to risky. "

His focused turned to the stone, "it maybe a trap, but I think not, why warn us of danger at the other end if it was?" Though Sheilis did t trust the old man, his instinct told him the old man wasn't the threat, atleast not for now.  The current queen was a definite threat.

Nia struggled a moment, whimpering with pain and loss as Sheilis swept her up like a child. But after a moment of weak futile wiggling, she went still. Her arms were wrapped around his neck and tears filled his shoulder as she wept in silence a moment.

By the time her Shard had finished speaking she was still and limp. The pain and exhaustion has finally drawn her into unconsciousness. Whether asleep or passed out, at this moment, either way was a blessing.

Rael watched with intrigue as LieAnia pushed to go to Maya, and then stared at the stone as Sheilis laid it upon the table. Psychic links were nothing new for the Namaran. After all, in his former life, in the world that the three shared together, he was a part of a large psychic link. It was part of becoming a Rube Knight, they literally ate a small part of each other and developed a connection with one another, as well as a connection with the Church and Zodo. Rael, in that life, could feel where his brothers and sisters in the ministry were, and could not only communicate with them, but could also call on some of their power to his aide. Taal had severed that link with him though, before he sent Rael off to help LieAnia escape. Otherwise, Zodo would only have to command Rael in his mind, and Rael would have been unable to resist or disobey.

Rael sighed, "Yes, that seems to be well answered now." His gaze falls upon the shard, "She won't survive a trip to Maya. You must know that. Not by foot. Not by horse. The way is long, about a month if not longer, and the way there takes us through the Chalcedon Wastes, with all of its hazards."

Rael's gaze falls back upon the stone, "I fear that we have no choice. We must use the stone, and must hope that it will take us to where we need to be." He sighs, "Rune stones require some energy from the user." He looks up at Sheilis, "Let that energy come from me. I can far more easily replenish it than either of you, and if there is some trap on this stone, it should be me who takes it. You have to be able to protect the queen and king."

He looks back over at LieAnia, "Let us rest though, for a few hours. Then we can gather around the stone, and pray that it is our salvation."

Sheilis held LieAnia a little closer as she wrapped her arms around his neck.  At Rael's comment about her not surviving the trip to Maya he nodded.  Though she was not sickly,  she was light and the trip was grueling even for those who were robust and strong.  The journeys he had done had taken a toll, but he knew how to survive and endure, he had to.

As Rael eyed the stone and spoke of being the one to activate it he nodded again.  Sheilis knew little of how such things worked so it would be foolish for him to try and activate it.  He was hesitant to allow LieAnia to use it for what may lay on the other side.

When Rael mentioned salvation Sheilis snorted softly, "not salvation, just a step."  Sheilis carefully walked over to the other small room that held a bed and gently placed LieAnia on it, covering her with his cloak. He came back out and looked at Rael, "a dangerous step, but one that I feel we have little other choice."

He picked up his notebook, sighing, "we do not have the luxury of time to travel by foot to Maya, even if the journey could be made." He thumb through his book, pausing at entries mentioning Maya or the queen.

He looked back to Rael, "I will leave u to watch, since ur rest is easier in the sun," with that he took his book and settled down at the foot of the bed LieAnia was resting on, thumbing through his book.

Nia was unconscious. Sleeping wasn't an appropriate word. She hadn't closed her eyes peacefully and slid blissfully into a dozing state. She's been conscious, though unaware, at one moment. The next, she'd merely succumbed to the pull of Tann's voice and the darkness and gone head first into it with all her might.

**
It was dark. Though that hardly seemed an appropriate term for the complete absence of light, and sound, and ever air movement in the place she arrived.

Glancing down she noticed she had hands and feet. So she walked. Then she ran. "Tann!"

She screamed his name over and over. There was no way to tell how far she was running.

A figure appeared.

It grew closer at a much faster speed than seemed possible.

A scream tore from LieAnia's throat as terror gripped her. TAAL ZODO! The demon that occupied the body of her husband's dearest friend laughed as she skidded and turned to scramble the other direction.

She didn't look back as she ran with all her might in another direction. But a heartbeat later, He was once more in front of her

"NO! You can't have him! You can't have either of us!" The Elven Queen screamed and her voice cracked in fear as she once more slid to a halt and pivoted to run another way.

But each time she turned, each time she ran, each time she nearly fell on her backside to scramble another direction, HE was always in front of her... Laughing.

"TTAANNNNN!" She screamed as over and over she tried to outrace the demon vision.

**
On the bed, Nia whimpered as tears squeezed from the corner of tightly clenched eyes. And bed sheets lay balled and trapped in fists so tight from fear that no one could safely pry them loose. She panted as she ran and her body writhed with each change of her stride. And she fought the desire to both awaken from the nightmare and remain asleep to find her King.

Rael sat back by the fire, keeping a keen eye on the surroundings. The chirps of insects, the squeaking of bats. The creaking of the old farm house. These noises kept the namarian company as he watched over his friends. Friends. He smiled a bit at that, he had never had true friends before.

A few hours had passed. Sheilis, who had been thumbing through his notebook for El Anon knows what, had drifted to sleep. LieAnia tossed and turned throughout the few hours, however her fits seemed to be increasing, and Rael thought he heard her whimper. Standing, he silently moves near her, was she crying?

A chill went down his back, something wasn't right. Sighing, he thought hard, hoping to tap into one of his old rube abilities from his past life. His breath deepened as he focused on LieAnia, searching for something, anything. A small flame grew and Rael's eyes shot wide open. 'The Mind of Zodo....' he thought. 'If He has found us here.....'

"Sheilis!" Rael shook the shard, "We must go, and we must do so now!" He runs over and grabs the rune stone, "The enemy, he knows she is here!" Rael grabs his things, "Come, we will take her to Maya now. We go for Tannhauser! Only he can save her now."

Sheilis thumbed through his notebook, filing away tidbits that he had about Maya and about the wife that wanted his lord dead.  He often did this in the other life, he would file facts and doze and come up with a plan that could be used when he woke up.  He didn't have much about Maya, except that it was demon ridden and dangerous to go there but anywhere in this world was dangerous.

He woke up to Rael's shout and was starting to rise when he felt Rael's hand shaking his shoulder.

He frowned, he had hoped that his tricks would by them time, and they probably did against the assassins, but they weren't just up against assassins.  He also felt something was wrong, that his lady was in grave danger if they stayed here much longer. He quickly rose and grabbed Nia's pack, throwing it over his shoulder and then scooped up Nia cloak and all into his arms.  If she woke he would place her down, but the time was not on their side to let her wake up.

He soon stood next to Rael, "it's time."
