Dark Guard
- Fortitude Race Max increased by 20%.

- Dark Guards can use any melee weapon with a block value.
- Dark Guards can use any armor and any shield.
Dark Guards are defenders of their own self interests or of a dark and sinister church.
Dark Guards are a combo profession of Guard and Cleric and require a negative morality.
Requirements for Dark Guard
In order to open up the dark guard combo profession, you need to meet the following requirements:
- At least level 3 of Armor Proficiency from Guard.
- At least level 2 of Intimidation from Cleric.
- More dark morality points than light morality points, giving you an "evil" alignment.

Character Point Rate
Dark Guards are twisted defenders. Fortitude and Will is the way to go for them.The Dark Guard's character point rate is:
- Mental x 0.01; with an additional +0.2 for every level obtained in Shuddering Aura (total of +0.8 bonus possible).
- A dark guard who gets all 4 levels of Dogma Defense gets to roll a 1d% increased by Mental as a percentage for extra character points.
- A dark guard who gets all 4 levels of Dogma gets to roll 2d% increased by Mental as a percentage for extra character points.
- A dark guard who gets at least 1 level in every dark guard skill gets their End of Session Bonus as extra character points.
- A dark guard's End of Session Bonus rate is your character point rate increased by 1/2 Will. So if your character point rate is 1.5 and your Will is 60, you would take 1.5 x 30 to get 45 extra character points at the end of the session. The GM can of course reward extra character points based on role playing.

A dark guard is an unholy guard. For a dark guard, any skill listed below has its character point cost cut in half as well as the skills from the primary profession.

Dark Guard Growth
As you develop and master skills within your dark guard profession, you will become a more capable dark guard. Each set of skills mastered will increase your tier level in your profession, which in turn will provide you with more benefits.
Tier 1: Basic Dark Guard
This is the tier level you start out as. The starting bonuses listed earlier apply here.
Tier 2: Novice Dark Guard
To reach this tier, you must acquire all of the skills in the shuddering aura skill chain at level 1. As a novice dark guard you benefit from the following bonuses:
- Melee Power increased by 10% will.
- +0.2 to Character Point Rate
Tier 3: Skilled Dark Guard
To reach this tier, you must acquire all of the skills in the shuddering aura skill chain at level 2. As a skilled dark guard you benefit from the following bonuses:
- Fortitude increased by 10% fortitude.
- Vitality increased by 10% will.
- +0.2 to Character Point Rate
Tier 4: Master Dark Guard
To reach this tier, you must acquire all of the skills in the shuddering aura skill chain at level 3. As a master dark guard you benefit from the following bonuses:
- React increased by 10% will.
- +0.2 to Character Point Rate
- Fortitude increased by 10% will
- Vitality increased by 10% fortitude
