Profession: Dark Knight
Pay Rate: 200 shillings per game week
Bonuses:
  • Strength Race Max increased by 10%.
  • Will Race Max increased by 10%
  • +5 modifier to Influence and Hit Chance
Penalties:
  • 10% chance of going berserk every time you take damage
  • 10 Penalty to Mental
Weapon & Armor Types:
  • Dark Knights can use any melee weapon.
  • Dark Knights can wear any armor and use shields.

Dark Knights are the opposite of Crusaders. They may be knights of a sinister church, or they may have taken the blade in vengeance against another group. Their motives are dark, and their anger is terrifying.

Dark Knights are a combo profession of Warrior and Cleric. Dark Knights require a negative morality.

Requirements for Dark Knight

In order to open up the Dark Knight combo profession, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • At least level 3 of Melee Proficiency from Warrior.
  • At least level 2 of Intimidation from Cleric.
  • More dark morality points than light morality points, giving you an evil alignment.

The cost to acquire the skill depends on the level you are acquiring the skill, as well as the tier level of the skill.

Character Point Rate

Dark Knights are warriors of the black blade. Strength and Will is the way to go for them.

The Dark Knight's character point rate is:
  • Mental x 0.01; with an additional +0.2 for every level obtained in Shuddering Blade (total of +0.8 bonus possible).
  • A Dark Knight who gets all 4 levels of Infallible Dogma gets to roll a 1d% increased by Mental as a percentage for extra character points.
  • A Dark Knight who gets all 4 levels of Dogmatic Convictions gets to roll  2d% increased by Mental as a percentage for extra character points.
  • A Dark Knight who gets at least 1 level in every dark knight skill gets their End of Session Bonus as extra character points.
  • A Dark Knight's End of Session Bonus rate is your character point rate increased by 1/2 Will. So if your character point rate is 1.5 and your Will is 60, you would take 1.5 x 30 to get 45 extra character points at the end of the session. The GM can of course reward extra character points based on role playing.

Dark Knight Growth

As you develop and master skills within your dark knight profession, you will become a more capable dark knight. Each set of skills mastered will increase your tier level in your profession, which in turn will provide you with more benefits.

Tier 1: Basic Dark Knight

This is the tier level you start out as. The starting bonuses listed earlier apply here.

Tier 2: Novice Dark Knight

To reach this tier, you must acquire all of the skills in the shuddering blade skill chain at level 1. As a novice dark knight you benefit from the following bonuses:

  • Melee Power increased by 10% will.
  • +0.2 to Character Point Rate

Tier 3: Skilled Dark Knight

To reach this tier, you must acquire all of the skills in the shuddering blade skill chain at level 2. As a skilled dark knight you benefit from the following bonuses:

  • React increased by 10% strength.
  • Fortitude increased by 10% will.
  • +0.2 to Character Point Rate

Tier 4: Master Dark Knight

To reach this tier, you must acquire all of the skills in the shuddering blade skill chain at level 3. As a master dark knight you benefit from the following bonuses:

  • Hit Chance increased by 10%.
  • +0.2 to Character Point Rate
  • Melee Power increased by 10% strength
  • Vitality increased by 10% will
