Profession: Ninja
Pay Rate: 200 shillings per game week
Bonuses:
  • Speed Race Max increased by 20%.
  • Luck Race Max increased by 10%
  • +5 modifier to Agility and React
Penalties:
  • Major Broken Bones makes Ninja's stunned until repaired
  • 10 Penalty to Fortitude
Weapon & Armor Types:
  • Ninjas use katanas, nunchucks, and throwing weapons.
  • Ninjas can only wear cloth armor and cannot use shields.

Ninjas are a covert agent. The functions of a ninja included reconnaissance, espionage, infiltration, deception, and ambush.

Ninjas are a combo profession of Warrior, Monk, and Thief.

Requirements for Ninja

In order to open up the Ninja combo profession, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • At least level 2 of Martial Weapons Proficiency from Monk.
  • At least level 3 of Sneak from Thief.
  • At least level 3 of Melee Proficiency from Warrior.

Character Point Rate

Ninjas pride themselves in their ability to attack unseen. Speed and stealth is the way to go for them.

The Ninja's character point rate is:
  • Mental x 0.01; with an additional +0.2 for every level obtained in Ninja Reflexes (total of +0.8 bonus possible).
  • A ninja who gets all 3 levels of Ninja Weapon Mastery gets to roll a 1d% increased by Mental as a percentage for extra character points. This is for each type, giving a total of three 1d% rolls for extra points.
  • A ninja who gets all 4 levels of Ninja Speed gets to roll  2d% increased by Mental as a percentage for extra character points. The ninja can only get this bonus 4 times.
  • A ninja who gets at least 1 level in every ninja skill (one ninja weapons mastery type) gets their End of Session Bonus as extra character points.
  • A ninja's End of Session Bonus rate is your character point rate increased by 1/2 React. So if your character point rate is 1.5 and your React is 60, you would take 1.5 x 30 to get 45 extra character points at the end of the session. The GM can of course reward extra character points based on role playing. 

Skills

A ninja is warrior of the shadows. Therefore they will be able to master stealth fighting skills better than others. For a ninja, any skill listed below has its character point cost cut in half as well as the skills from the primary profession.

Weapon Mastery 4 Endurance

Increase attack value, hit chance, and critical by 10% with chosen weapon.

Ninja Growth

As you develop and master skills within your ninja profession, you will become a more capable ninja. Each set of skills mastered will increase your tier level in your profession, which in turn will provide you with more benefits.

Tier 1: Basic Ninja

This is the tier level you start out as. The starting bonuses listed earlier apply here.

Tier 2: Novice Ninja

To reach this tier, you must acquire all of the skills in the ninja reflexes skill chain at level 1. As a novice ninja you benefit from the following bonuses:

  • Melee Power and Throw Power increased by 10% speed.
  • +0.2 to Character Point Rate

Tier 3: Skilled Ninja

To reach this tier, you must acquire all of the skills in the ninja reflexes skill chain at level 2. As a skilled ninja you benefit from the following bonuses:

  • React increased by 10% speed.
  • +0.2 to Character Point Rate

Tier 4: Master Ninja

To reach this tier, you must acquire all of the skills in the ninja reflexes skill chain at level 3. As a master ninja you benefit from the following bonuses:

  • Hit Chance and Hit Targeting increased by 15%.
  • +0.2 to Character Point Rate
  • Evade increased by 10% speed
  • +10 to Critical Hit
