This spell is a part of the Airess spell chain and can be found in the Airess rune stone.
The dark symbol that is the Tornado and the aeromancer are in many ways very similar in nature. Both are chaotic and mischievous. Both also have quick and destructive tempers. Down Burst is that temper put into action. It is not as elegant as Aero Disk - instead it is something else. It is pure, sudden violence matching the aeromancer's quick temper.
There's no throwing motion here, no arc to admire. There is only sudden destruction. The aeromancer calls the compressed vortex up directly above the target and lets go of it entirely, and the Tornado does what it's always secretly wanted to do given the chance - it comes straight down, fast, crushing, a single column of violent wind slamming into whatever's standing beneath it before the target has any real chance to move. There's no finesse left in it by the time it lands, no controlled curve, no clever cut across the torso - just raw weight and speed meeting flesh all at once, dealing 8d8 points of damage in the instant it strikes. It isn't the aeromancer's most creative trick. It's just one of the most effective, and sometimes that's enough of a reason on its own. As quickly as the aeromancer's temper fades, so too does the spell - gone in an instant with the Tornado's power resting within the now once again cheerful aeromancer.
