This spell is a part of the Graveyard's Warding spell chain and is found in the Graveyard's Warding rune stone.
The ground does not let go easily. Those who have pulled themselves free from Release of the Doomed know the cold grip of skeletal hands, the resistance, the moment of struggle before freedom arrives. They will have learned to read that resistance, to anticipate where it ends. When Rise of the Doomed is cast instead, what they have learned becomes a liability.Â
The spell begins identically to Release of the Doomed. Hands erupt from the earth, close around legs, hold fast. Targets struggle. Some succeed in their Athletics check and tear themselves free, and for just a moment, believe they have won. The Fade permits them that moment. It is, after all, patient.
Then the doomed comes out of the ground entirely.
What was beneath the surface, whatever The Fade was using to hold them does not simply release its grip and retreat. It rises, full and complete, and the momentum of the target's own escape becomes the instrument of their undoing. The freed target is immediately tackled to the ground, struck for double the seniumancer's Runic Power in physical damage and sent sprawling. Now prone and caught, they must make a Normal Athletics -2 check to get back up, losing another round in the process as they grapple with something that was never truly trying to hold them still as it was waiting for them to pull it free. Those who never broke free in the first place remain held by the hands as normal, unaware of what patience their struggling saved them from.
