This spell is a part of the Air's Constant Flow spell chain and can be found in the Air's Constant Flow rune stone.

Every spell in this chain, back to Scent of Dreamers, has been about putting something into the air someone breathes - a sweet gas to lull them under, a sharper scent to wake them, a poison mixed patiently into a single breath, a cloud of it choking a whole battlefield at once. Suffocate is the aeromancer finally realizing none of that was ever necessary. The air itself was always the weapon. Why bother filling it with anything at all, when simply taking it away does the job more completely than poison ever could?

There's no gas here, no scent, nothing added to breathe in - only a small, precise vacuum held directly in front of the target's mouth, an absence shaped exactly to the one space that matters. Air stops arriving entirely. The target gasps for something that simply isn't there anymore, terrified, struggling, and can do nothing else while it holds - no attacking, no moving under their own power, nothing but the desperate, useless reflex of trying to breathe. For three rounds it goes on like that before the body finally gives out. Unlike the poison that came before it in this chain, though, this isn't inescapable - the vacuum holds its place in the air, not in the target's lungs, and anyone quick enough to physically drag the target clear of that one small point breaks the spell entirely. It was never really about the target's own strength to survive. It was always going to come down to whether someone else got there in time.

It's the simplest spell in the entire chain, and the most final. Every trick before this one was about controlling what the air does. Suffocate is what happens once the aeromancer stops needing the air to do anything at all.
