This spell is a part of the Dishevel spell chain and is found in the Dishevel rune stone.
Dishevel teaches a young aeromancer that anger has a shape and a name they cannot give it - a nameless thing that lives, however briefly, in the space between one wind and another. It can only be described by the friction and disaster it can cause - the Tornado. What it does not teach, not yet, is scale. Vortex is the lesson that follows, often sooner than the aeromancer would like: that the same friction they touched once, aimed at a single target and scattered by their own effort, can just as easily refuse to be aimed at all.
When Vortex is cast, the aeromancer doesn't reach outward this time - they let the friction gather around their own body instead, current after current pulling inward, tightening, until the air itself seems to hold its breath. Then it releases all at once, in every direction simultaneously, indifferent to who stands where. Everyone within the vortex's reach - ally and enemy alike - is thrown back 4 spaces, or roughly 20 feet. Should the force fling one target into another, both go down hard, the collision doubling the damage between them. Should it fling someone into a wall, a tree, anything that doesn't yield, the impact alone is punishment enough. There is no bracing against it, no readying a stance beforehand - the vortex asks nothing of anyone caught inside it, least of all permission. The aeromancer, catching their breath at the center of the calm they've made, understands for the first time that the Tornado's anger was never really theirs to control. It only ever agreed to be aimed.
Weapon Effect: Vortex
Attack target pushes target back 2 spaces, as long as target is not immune to knock back status effects. Target can of course make a hard brace check to not be pushed back.
