Crafting tools are the specialized instruments used alongside the standard toolsets to craft, improve, and repair items. While the Standard Weapon Crafting Toolset, Standard Armor Crafting Toolset, and Standard Construction Toolset provide everything needed to make basic items, the tools found here allow you to work more efficiently, improve the quality of what you make, and repair damaged gear in the field.

About Repair

With the right tools and the Repair ability, you can repair damaged weapons, armor, and items without visiting a blacksmith. To repair an item you will need the appropriate repair tools for the item's primary material, as well as raw material equal to the percentage of damage you wish to restore. For example, if a steel sword has lost 50% of its effectiveness, you will need 50% of the sword's weight in steel to restore it. If you only have 25% of the material needed, you can only restore 25% of the damage.

Repair time is proportional to the item's original build time. An item that took 5 hours to build will take approximately 2.5 hours to repair at 50% damage. The GM may adjust this based on circumstances.

Shop-bought items use their primary material for repair by default. Crafted items will have a known material breakdown, though the system default is still the primary material. The GM may always weigh in when narrative circumstances suggest otherwise.

About Crafting Improvement Tools

Crafting improvement tools allow you to go beyond the baseline of what a standard toolset provides. They can reduce build time, add small bonuses to finished item stats, or assist with the Design Improvement skill. You may only use improvement tools on items that fall within your current crafting skill level. You cannot use an improvement tool to improve a Novice item if you only have Basic Crafting, for example.
