A sword is just metal until an Artificer touches it. Then it becomes something else entirely."

— Commander Tyan Vaelyn, Kingdom of Auphera's 3rd Army

Runic Modules are enhancements crafted by Artificers and installed into existing weapons, armor, and items. Unlike runic weapons which are built from scratch using runic components, modules allow any item; from a simple steel sword to a suit of plate mail, to benefit from runic technology. Only an Artificer with the Runic Tech Upgrade skill can install modules. Once installed, a module becomes a permanent part of the item and cannot be removed without destroying it.

About Elemental Imbuing

Before purchasing or commissioning modules, it is worth noting that the Elemental Imbuing skill allows an Artificer to give any material the elemental properties of a stored spell in a rune stone. This is the most fundamental form of runic enhancement and does not require a crafted module. It only an Artificer, a rune stone, and the Arcane Materials requirement. See the Elemental Imbuing skill for full details.
