Artificer

You excel at making and repairing things.  You can easily tell what something is made of and easily deal with traps. You aren't a warrior but you aren't completely clumsy in a fight either. You would leave the talking and spell casting to others though. You are also the master inventor of the arcane.

3) Profession Level Progression

Artificers are masterful arcane crafters. 

All characters get the following by leveling up regardless of profession:

  • Each level up you get your secondary gen dice rolls for Vitality, Soul, and Power.
  • Each level up you get 1d4 stat points
  • Each level up you get 1d6 trait points
  • You can acquire 1 skill of choice in or out of profession.
  • At level 1 you have an initial 1d6 trait points that you can assign as desired
  • Your profession will also provide bonuses when you level up
  • You can start with 1 spell, and gain a new spell on every odd number level whether you are a runic mage or not.

Artificers gain the following through leveling up every other level:

Awaken Elemental Construct

One of the things you can create using the Runic Crafting skills is an elemental construct. This ability allows you to awaken it, having it as your familiar. All you must do is give it a portion of your Vitality, Soul, and Power. However much you give it is what the construct will have. The rest of the basic stats will come from the construct's blueprints and design.

Novice Runic Crafting skill

Carving

This ability allows you to carve wood and stone. With it you can make sculptures, tokens, spears, arrow and spear heads, and much much more. Basic wood carving requires no skill, but more difficult carving may require a crafting skill or difficulty check.

Construct Improvement

This ability allows you to help improve your construct further. You can give it stat points or trait points from your character. You can use skills like Design Improvement, Runic Tech Combination, or Runic Tech Upgrade to improve your construct, and so much more.

Runic Profession

Create Magical Totem You are able to create magical totems with your Runic Crafting skill. Magical Totems allow you to store a certain amount of Vitality, Power, or Soul dependent upon the level of skill you are using (shown in the complete skill description). When you run out of that stat which you have stored in a magical totem, the amount of stat in the totem is transferred to you and the totem is gone. You can only have one magical totem equipped at a time, equipped as a relic.

You can equip a potion as your weapon and use it during your attack action. As long as you have more than one of that same potion it will keep replenishing in your hand. Once you run out however you would have to spend a support action to equip another potion.

Magical Substitution

You can substitute an ingredient with a magic spell effect when creating a potion. If the magic spell effect matches an effect of at least one other ingredient, it will be part of the potion. The amount of spells you can substitute depends on the level of Create Arcane Potion skill you are using. 

  • Create Basic Arcane Potion: 1 magic spell with 1 ingredient
  • Create Novice Arcane Potion: 2 magic spells with 1 ingredient
  • Create Better Arcane Potion: 3 magic spells with 1 ingredient
  • Create Advanced Arcane Potion: 4 magic spells with 1 ingredient

The rule is you have to include 1 ingredient and all other potion crafting rules do still apply. You also must have the spell you wish to apply to the potion. You will not lose the spell you are using as an ingredient substitute.

Make a medicine check with every potion you use. If you succeed at an impossible medicine check, the potion refills automatically.

Allows you to create rune stones of a spell family once you have the spells of that family.

Runic Carvings Able to carve runic runes onto surfaces. Primarily used by artificers to give magical properties to their runic constructs, these carvings can also be applied to anything made of stone or wood materials. This is basically a form of Witch Runes ability that the Runic Mages have, but limited to only materials and surfaces that are able to receive carvings or etchings. What makes these better is that they can't be washed away and will last forever. Carving effects listed in the full ability description.

For example, you could create a ring of Staggering Spell that gives the magic of the ring's wearer that skill's effect of dazing the target, or you could make a brooch for a cloak that gives the cloak Magical Vampirism effect.
