The Continent Chalcephera

"From crystal peaks to ancient Chalcedon, ever shall I wander to find my Chalcepheran home." - Sangreal the Bard

Once regarded as holy and as the cradle of civilization, Chalcephera is a great and ponderous land. It is home to several nations - The Kingdom of Auphera, Kingdom of Miden, and Kingdom of Chaladonia being the main nations of the continent.

1) Location Within Nor'Ova

The Continent of Chalcephera is in the northern hemisphere and eastern hemisphere. It stretches 2,438 miles north to south and 2,604 miles west to east, measuring at 6,348,552 square miles in landmass. It is bordered by the Andron Ocean in the east, the O'Lennon Ocean to the west, and the frozen Aech to the north. To the south lies the continent of Vega, which is double the size of Chalcephera but half as populated.  The two continents are connected by the Miden Isthmus which is home to the Kindgom of Miden, a mainly dwarven kingdom.

2) Climate

The northern most part of the continent remains in permafrost. Just short of it is a temperate climate that has long winters and very short summers. The Crystal Mountains that cut the continent in two creates a warmer climate on the Acadian Plains to the west, thanks in part to the ocean currents of the O'Lennon. Between the Crystal Mountains and the Midden Mountains is the vast Paralax Desert. It is said that any who try to navigate the desert find themselves lost and soon dead, for no compass works there.

To the western side of the Crystal Mountains lies the Auster Lands and Realm of Neurosthenia. The Auster Lands is a very wet climate, while the Plains of Slumber to the north is uncharacteristically dry. The Miasmac Swamp covers the Neurothianian Peninsula and the volcanic Vapid Vanuatu are a prominent fixture in the Northern Auster Sea.

The Southwest is home to the Kingdom of Auphera which enjoys a warm temperate climate for most of the kingdom, and subtropical climate for the areas along the Sea of Miden and the Shield Coast.

The Crystal Mountains themselves have a climate that changes with elevation more than with latitude. Snow always covers the highest peaks save the tallest of the peaks, Precipitation Point, which stays in a strange state between ice and rain.

The Miden Mountains remain warmer and dryer and don't reach as high in altitude as the Crystal Mountains. However a few of its peaks do experience year round snow fall, with lower elevations receiving snow when other areas of the same latitude would not during the winter months.

The high plains remain dry and arid, with the Auster Highlands being the wetter of the highlands. The Dormora High Plains are almost a desert and the Miden Highlands constantly have higher than normal temperatures.

The Drakelowe Desert rests on the eastern side of the Miden Mountains, between the Drakelowe Highlands and the O'Lennon Ocean. The Miden Isthmus does get enough rain to remain green, but it is a steamy tropical climate.
